Corals are literally the foundations of the Maldives. The island nation is made up of coral islands, which form over ancient volcanoes.
The Red Coral (Corallium sp.) are a species highly regarded for their ornamental value as jewelry. They were used to adorn necklaces and bracelets by the ancient people and were revered in folklore about Maldives.
The Seas of Māla Collection was inspired by the “Four Seas of Māla”, from the Jataka Tales. It is believed that the word “Māla”, which translates to “Garland” in Sanskrit, is referring to the Maldives.
